Iva Jovic vs. Camila Osorio: Jovic to win 2:0 (+120)
Iva Jovic has had a great start to the 2026 season. Jovic is only 18 years old, but is already showing signs of being one of the next great American women’s tennis players. To start the year, Jovic made the semifinals of the ASB Classic and the final of the Hobart International. At the Australian Open, she really proved her skills, upsetting Jasmine Paolini en route to the quarterfinals, where she lost to the No. 1 player in the world, Aryna Sabalenka. Jovic followed that up with a strong showing in Dubai, making it to the Round of 16. That has catapulted Jovic up to No. 18 in the WTA rankings.
Jovic should handle Camila Osorio with ease in this Round of 64 matchup. Osorio is the No. 64 player in the world and has been downsliding the last couple of years. In some of those early-year tournaments where Jovic performed so well, Osorio was bounced in the first round at the ASB Classic, Hobart International and Australian Open. She did well to win her Round of 128 match to get to this spot, but Jovic has much more quality. These two faced off for the first time in Guadalajara last year, also on an outdoor hardcourt. Jovic dominantly won that match, 6-4, 6-2. There should be a similar result in this second meeting, with Jovic winning in straight sets.
Ben Shelton vs. Reilly Opelka: Shelton to win 2:0 (-110)
Ben Shelton begins his run at an Indian Wells title against fellow American Reilly Opelka. Opelka registered a nice win in the Round of 128 against Ethan Quinn. However, this is a massive jump in quality from the No. 78 player in the world, Quinn, to the No. 8 player in the world, Shelton. Even against Quinn, Opelka looked a bit shaky, winning 7-5, 7-6. This is a trend for Opelka this season. In all three tournaments he has played in 2026, he won his opening match before getting bounced by tougher competition in the following round. Shelton should also handle Opelka with ease.
Shelton played well at Indian Wells last year, making the quarterfinals. This year, he hopes to surpass that and make a run at the title. A strong start to his tournament would go a long way. He has faced Reilly Opelka twice in his career, both times in 2024. Shelton won both meetings between the two players. Both matches were played on an outdoor hardcourt, just like this one will be. When those matches were played, Shelton also wasn’t at the level that he is now. He still has struggles against the elites like Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic. However, against lesser players, Shelton’s athleticism and power make him a dominant force that is difficult to upset. He should handle Opelka in two sets in this match.
