Saturday Night Live returns this week with a first-time host riding a meteoric rise to stardom.
Actor Connor Storrie will host the popular sketch comedy show on February 28 with musical guest Mumford & Sons.
Storrie, 26, became an overnight sensation for his role as Ilya Rozanov on the Crave/HBO hit series Heated Rivalry, a hockey romance adapted from Rachel Reid’s Game Changers novels.
The Texas native has just 15 IMDb credits to his name, a modest filmography previously highlighted by a cameo in Joker: Folie à Deux (2024). He spent the last eight years working at restaurants — and was hilariously almost fired from his job as a waiter in Los Angeles on the same day he booked Heated Rivalry.
The series, which premiered in November 2025, didn’t just take off — it became a cultural phenomenon. And in the following months, Storrie and co-star Hudson Williams were thrust into the spotlight, presenting at the Golden Globes and even carrying the Olympic torch in Italy.
Heated Rivalry was already parodied on SNL during Finn Wolfhard’s episode on January 17.
Storrie was lauded for his convincing Russian accent while portraying the Slavic Ilya Rozanov. In his first promo for SNL — posted on Wednesday — he flashed his limitless range in an accent battle with James Austin Johnson:
Mumford & Sons will return to SNL for the fourth time, marking the English folk rock band’s first performance at Studio 8H since 2018.
