The first match in Belgium featured six goals, 30 shots and 14 shots on target. While we might not get the same level of chaos in Tuesday’s game, I still expect an end-to-end affair.
Atlético played in La Liga on Saturday, dispatching Espanyol 4-2. They have now scored three or more goals in three of their last four games. They are in decent form overall at the moment, although inconsistent. In February, they have had some statement results such as beating Barcelona 4-0 and beating Real Betis 5-0. Unfortunately, they have also suffered some shock losses such as a 1-0 defeat to Real Betis and a 3-0 loss to Rayo Vallecano.
You never know what Atlético Madrid team you’re going to get but with the stakes this high, I’m confident they will show up. If they don’t, their Champions League campaign could come to an end. They are the better team, have a far more experienced manager and the game will be played in Madrid. I expect a healthy victory for Atléti as they will book their place in the Round of 16.
