More than two years after its King Kong-sized cliffhanger, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is back for its second season. The spinoff series from Legendary’s Monsterverse already gave us plenty of Godzilla in season 1, and showrunner Chris Black is bound to bring even more iconic titans into the fold in the episodes to come.

When does Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2 come out?
Like Severence, Ted Lasso, The Studio and most other major Apple TV series, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is releasing one episode a week.
Season 2, episode 1 will drop on Apple TV on Thursday, February 26 at 9 p.m. ET. The episode, which is titled “Cause and Effect,” will have a runtime around 53 minutes. There will be 10 episodes in total this season, wrapping up with the finale on April 30.

Most of the major players from season 1 are back for season 2, although time jumps and Hollow Earth relativity have the characters in new spots. Here is a look at who is confirmed to be in the cast for season 2:

What to expect in Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2
In the season 1 finale, Shaw, Cate and May found Keiko, who had been missing for 60 years. She was stuck in Axis Mundi, an intermediate world between the surface and the Hollow Earth, where time moves at a glacial pace. So while Shaw aged from Wyatt Russell into Kurt Russell, Keiko looks the same. She is effectively the same age as her granddaughter, Cate. As the crew was trying to escape Axis Mundi, an Ion Dragon attacked, but Godzilla arrived to fend it off and buy them some time. Still, Shaw had to sacrifice himself to get the others back to the surface safely in the Operation Hourglass ship.
Cate, May and Keiko made it through a rift, then emerged outside of an Apex Cybernetics facility. Kentaro, Hiroshi, Tim and Brenda were waiting for them, two years after they went into Axis Mundi. The facility also turned out to be on Skull Island, with King Kong lurking nearby.
In season 2, Shaw is somehow back on the surface with the rest of the gang. They will have to deal with Titan X, a massive ocean-based monster with tentacles that seemingly came back from Axis Mundi. In order to fight it, they will try to get both King Kong and Godzilla to join their cause. This season seemingly takes place before Godzilla vs. Kong and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire in the Monstervse continuity, though, so we probably won’t see those two share the screen very much – if at all.

Will there be another season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters?
Apple TV has yet to announce a third season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. However, the streamer did greenlight a spinoff show following the younger version of Lee Shaw, played by Wyatt Russell, in late 2025. Production is reportedly scheduled to start in summer 2026 in Prague, per Nexus Point News.
