Goff is having another efficient season. The quarterback ranks second in completion percentage (69.8%), sixth in passing yards (3,025) and sixth in yards per pass (8.0). Goff doesn’t go deep often, with a 6.7 aDOT, but he has completed a pass of at least 39 yards in six of his 12 starts this season. Just last week, Goff completed a 44-yard pass vs. a stout Packers defense that is allowing the fourth-fewest yards per pass this season (5.7).
Goff is in a polar opposite spot this week, facing the Cowboys, who are giving up the third-most yards per pass in the league (7.3). When going against Dallas, quarterbacks have the third-most time to throw in the NFL (2.91) and nine of the 11 quarterbacks that have faced the Cowboys this season have surpassed 35.5 yards with their longest completion.
Amon-Ra St. Brown (ankle) is questionable for the Lions, but even if he is out, Goff still has two elite, big playmakers in Jameson Williams and Jahmyr Gibbs that he can target in this likely shootout. This game’s 54.5-point total is the second-largest the NFL has seen this season and Goff will be on his home turf inside Ford Field, where he has always been more confident throughout his career. Goff should have multiple long completions in this spot and he is a stellar bet for this over.
