The Ring Magazine is hosting its fourth boxing event today and is headlined by a WBC Light Heavyweight Championship bout between David Benavidez vs. Anthony Yarde. Benavidez enters this contest with an undefeated record of 30-0 with 24 knockouts, while Yarde is 27-3 and has won four straight fights.
Here is my best bet for the Main Event of Ring IV, David Benavidez vs. Anthony Yarde.
David Benavidez by KO/TKO/DQ (-155)
At 28 years old, Benavidez is one of the best boxers in the sport that are under 30. Benavidez is a former WBC Super Middleweight Champion and is the current Interim WBC Light Heavyweight title holder. If Benavidez beats Yarde, he would become a two-division WBC Champion at 28 years old, which is impressive. Benavidez has faced tough competitors in the past, but none have defeated him.
On DraftKings Sportsbook, Benavidez is a massive -900 favorite with Yarde being a +550 underdog. Benavidez began his boxing career as a knockout artist, but has recently proved he can win in multiple ways, as his previous two victories have come by decision.
With Benavidez being such a big favorite, we have to find a different way to back him. Even though he hasn’t scored a knockout since 2023, Benavidez has won seven of his previous 10 fights by knockout. Getting Benavidez at -155 to beat Yarde by KO/TKO/DQ is an excellent value play considering the power he possesses.
