Both the Memphis Grizzlies and the Phoenix Suns find themselves in weird places. They have good pieces to win now, but the motivation to get younger and build for the future. Ja Morant is seemingly in between the two. An incredible talent bogged down by his skill limitations and injuries, he’s going to have to prove some things this year. It sure makes his player prop market interesting.
The Grizzlies are 1.5-point road favorites on DraftKings Sportsbook. They’re priced at -130 on the Moneyline, while the Suns are +110 home underdogs. The total for this game is set at 241.5 points. Let’s get into my favorite Ja Morant prop bet for this Grizzlies vs. Suns game.
Best Ja Morant Prop Bet
There are a few interesting statistical points for Morant in the early going. Keep in mind we are in small sample size theater, and you just bought a ticket, but it’s worth noting.
Shouldering a huge playmaking burden is nothing new for Morant. But he’s clearly feeling the absence of Desmond Bane as well as backup guards Scotty Pippen Jr. and new signee Ty Jerome. Two-way guard Javon Small (who I love, by the way) is the only player who can back him up or play alongside him in the backcourt and shoulder some playmaking burden. Right now, Morant has the highest share of team assists amongst all players not named Nikola Jokic.
Memphis is also playing with a ton of pace. So far, the Grizzlies are fourth in total pace as head coach Tuomas Iisalo looks to pressure opposing defenses early. This bodes well for Morant and the Memphis offense against a Suns team that is 29th in defensive rating, per Cleaning the Glass. It’s a chance for Ja to rack up the dimes and push the tempo here.
