Auston Matthews to Score a Goal (+110)
Matthews scored an empty-netter in Toronto’s season-opener but failed to find the back of the net in back-to-back games against the Red Wings, despite logging a combined 14 shots on goal in those two games. Tonight, he faces a Predators squad that he has found plenty of success against in the past and that ranks ninth in shots allowed per game. The 28-year-old center has netted six goals in the past seven meetings against the Predators, including five across the past three games when playing at home. The good news keeps coming, as Juuse Saros (.947 SV%, 1.64 GAA), who has been stellar for Nashville, is not starting tonight. Justus Annunen has yet to play this season, but he posted a 3.17 GAA and .888 SV% in 23 appearances with the Predators last season.
Mika Zibanejad 3+ Shots on Goal (-120)
The veteran center may only have one point across four games for New York thus far, but he is still getting the puck on the net at a high rate. He is tied with Zach Werenski for the most shots on goal (19) in the league and has logged two games with at least seven shots on goal already this season. He draws an interesting matchup tonight against the Oilers, and it’s interesting because they’ve allowed just 18.5 shots per game, the lowest mark in the league by an already-wide margin. Zibanejad has found success versus Edmonton in the past; however, clearing this line in the previous five meetings against the club. Prior success versus the Oilers, coupled with his early-season willingness to shoot the puck, is enough for me to back Zibanejad to get the job done at -120.
Jack Eichel 1+ Powerplay Point (+145)
It feels like an absolute steal to be getting this play at such juicy odds. Eichel is tied for the second-most points in the league (7), but four of those points have come while on the powerplay. Vegas was the second-best team in 2024 when it came to powerplay percentage (28.3%), and the club has continued its special teams excellence so far this season, ranking fifth in the league (30.8%). While the 28-year-old has yet to record a powerplay point when playing in Calgary in his career, this feels like a good spot for that streak to end. The Flames rank eighth in penalties taken (15) and fifth in total penalty minutes (41) so far this season, and I’m expecting the Golden Knights’ elite powerplay to take full advantage. If the powerplay is successful, there’s a strong chance that Eichel is involved.
