Kupp ($7,000 for Showdown) has been inconsistent with the Seahawks this season. In his first three games with Seattle, Kupp has scored 3.5, 16.0 and 5.1 FPTS, in that order, which is a continuation of how his tenure with the Rams ended last season, when the 32-year-old scored single-digit FPTS in four of his final five games, including a zero catch performance.
Kupp is operating as the Seahawks’ clear No. 2 receiver behind Jaxon Smith-Njigba ($11,000), with Kupp handling a 20.8% target while running a route 84% of his team’s dropbacks, but the veteran is only producing 0.2 FPTS per snap with this role, which ranks 45th among receivers this season. Notably, Kupp has seen only one redzone target, zero targets over 20 yards and he owns a low 8.0 aDOT.
Kupp’s lack of production is not just a result of him being ineffective in his ninth season, but also a product of the Seahawks not throwing the ball much, as the club ranks dead last in pass rate and second-to-last in PROE.
Up next for Kupp and Seattle is a divisional matchup with the Cardinals on Thursday night. Arizona is giving up the most catches (48) and yards to receivers this season (484), but the Cardinals as a whole are allowing just the ninth-most yards per pass overall (5.6). Plus, the Seahawks are a 1.5-point favorite for this contest, so they likely will continue to rely on their running game, especially with Zach Charbonnet (foot) back from a one-game absence.
Kupp scoring single-digit FPTS on Thursday for the third time in four games this season is likely and unless in a very deep season-long league, you likely have a better option than Kupp to start this week.
