Raphael Uchegbu and Cody Chovancek face off in the opening bout of tonight’s episode of Dana White’s Contender Series. This will be a three-round contest and the first of two Bantamweight bouts on the card.
I break down my best bet for Raphael Uchegbu vs. Cody Chovancek on DWCS Season 9, Week 6 below.
Cody Chovancek Moneyline (+120)
Chovancek hails from Niagara Top Team, one of the best MMA gyms in Canada. Two rising UFC contenders, Mike Malott and Jasmine Jasudavicius, also train at Niagara Top Team in Ontario, Canada. Chovancek has a perfect 8-0 record with three knockouts and two submissions. He is coming off a decision win against Jordan Howard in May.
His opponent, Uchegbu, is 10-1 and has won his previous four fights by finish. This is Uchegbu’s first fight in the last 16 months (May 2024). He has made two appearances in the past on Bellator cards and once on a PFL event.
On DraftKings Sportsbook, Uchegbu is a -142 favorite with Chovancek being the underdog at +120. Getting Chovancek at +120 is an excellent value play considering he enters this bout undefeated, and although Uchegbu is talented, he is coming off a significant layoff. Since Uchegbu is slightly taller, Chovancek will need to get off to a fast start while incorporating all parts of his arsenal.
