In Week 1, Sunday Night Football viewers were treated to a battle between last season’s MVP and MVP runner-up, the Buffalo Bills’ Josh Allen and the Baltimore Ravens’ Lamar Jackson. Both quarterbacks had performances to remember, with Allen amassing 394 yards and two scores in the air and another 30 yards and two touchdowns on the ground and Jackson putting up 209 passing yards, 70 rushing yards, and three total touchdowns. In the end, Matt Prater’s 32-yard field goal as time expired was the difference, and Buffalo came back from a 40-25 deficit with four minutes remaining to win, 41-40.

The bettor was clearly high on both teams’ offenses, as all five of their legs were touchdown-scoring props. They backed Allen to score twice and Jackson, Zay Flowers, Keon Coleman, and James Cook to find the back of the end zone at least once each. The teams met twice last season, combining for 45 points in a Week 4 battle and 52 in the Divisional Round.
It took more than 20 minutes and three touchdowns for the first leg to cash; the Bills’ first touchdown was scored by Dalton Kincaid and the Ravens’ first score by Derrick Henry. But with nine minutes, 47 seconds remaining in the second quarter, Jackson kept it himself, cut inside, and took it into the end zone untouched to cap off a four-play, 69-yard drive and give his team a 17-7 lead. Jackson’s score opened up the floodgates for the rest of the game.
The next leg cashed just two minutes, 12 seconds into the second half. Baltimore opened the half with a bang, as Jackson found Flowers for 39 yards and then dumped a screen pass to his top target for a 23-yard score on the very next play. Flowers, who became the first-ever Ravens wide receiver to make the Pro Bowl in 2024, was inactive for the Divisional Round clash last season because of a knee injury that he suffered in Week 18.
With Baltimore up 14, Buffalo got aggressive on offense, going for it on 4th and 5 at the Ravens’ 31-yard line with eight minutes, 42 seconds remaining in the quarter. The gamble paid off; though Allen’s pass to Joshua Palmer fell incomplete, the Ravens’ Jaire Alexander committed pass interference, giving the Bills the ball on the four-yard line. An Allen run and a Cook halfback dive later, Buffalo was in the end zone, trailing by seven, and the bettor had cashed three of the five legs.
Still, entering the fourth quarter, it looked unlikely that the parlay would hit, or that the Bills would win the game. Baltimore led by 15 points, and the bettor still needed a Coleman score and a pair of Allen rushes. They got part of what they needed with 12 minutes, 51 seconds remaining in the game, when Allen, seeing nobody open, kept it himself on second and goal for a two-yard score.
Then, with three minutes, 20 seconds left, the fourth leg of the parlay finally cashed. At that point, the Ravens were once again up 15 after yet another Henry touchdown, and plenty of Bills fans had headed for the parking lots. Before the drive, Coleman had had a relatively quiet night, making just three catches for 41 yards on six targets. But the 22-year-old came alive when it mattered most, starting off the drive by skying high for a 21-yard catch and ending it by miraculously tracking down a fourth-down deflection off of Dawson Knox’s outstretched arm for a score. The touchdown brought Buffalo within eight points and moved the parlay to within one Allen touchdown of cashing.
Allen received a lifeline less than a minute later to do just that. On the second play of Baltimore’s ensuing drive, the normally sure-handed Henry fumbled, allowing Bills linebacker Terrel Bernard to pounce on it and give his team great field position. Rookie tight end Jackson Hawes wasted no time, catching a deep post for a 29-yard gain, getting tackled just short of the end zone. Buffalo first went to Cook to punch it in, but when he was stuffed, Allen dove over the top with his six-foot-five frame, bringing the Bills within two and turning the bettor’s $25 wager into a $37,525 payday.
