Western Conference rivals are set to clash when the Grizzlies take on the Warriors in Vegas. With less than a week remaining on the 2025 Summer League schedule, the time is now for young players to make an impression. Each of these two playoff contenders are in search of quality depth. Who will be victorious on Tuesday?
DraftKings Sportsbook is listing the Grizzlies as 4.5-point favorites and -198 on the moneyline. The Warriors are at +164 odds on the moneyline, and the game total is set at 185.5. Let’s break down both Summer League squads, players to watch, and a pick for the contest.
Warriors vs. Grizzlies preview, prediction
The Grizzlies made a conscious decision to prioritize depth over star power this offseason. The club traded Desmond Bane, one of the association’s better wings, to Orlando. As a result, Memphis was able to acquire much-needed draft assets and financial flexibility. Trading away an All-Star-caliber guard hurts, but there’s several avenues for the Grizz to improve. That includes continued development from sophomore Jaylen Wells. The All-Rookie Team selection impressed last season, emerging as a force on both ends of the court. He’s carried that momentum into Summer League, averaging a team-leading 18.0 points per game
Wells isn’t the only Memphis youngster proving his worth in Vegas. Third-year pro G.G. Jackson has flashed plenty of upside, dropping 16.0 points and 4.0 rebounds while shooting 50.0% from the field. Former UConn Huskies sharpshooter Cam Spencer has knocked down 40.0% of his three-point attempts thus far. North Carolina alum Armando Bacot has impressed down low, averaging 14.0 points and 9.0 rebounds. The Grizzlies have also dominated on defense, holding opponents to 82.0 points per game.
Compared to Memphis, Golden State is lacking in the big name department. Five different Dubs players are averaging double-digit points. That includes Gabe Madsen, who has accounted for 15.0 points over just 12.8 minutes per game. The Utah product is connecting on an absurd 61.5% of his three-pointers. Most of this roster is composed of former second-round picks and undrafted free agents. That makes it nearly impossible to predict which Warriors will chip in on any given night. Perhaps 2025 selection Will Richard (11.0 PPG, 5.0 RPG) can emerge as a key contributor on Golden State’s bench. It’s unlikely, but not impossible.
Warriors vs. Grizzlies Pick, Best Bet
Memphis has done a solid job of drafting and signing role players in recent years. The same can’t be said for Golden State, partially a result of trading away several premium draft picks. That’s not to say the Warriors are devoid of any talent on their Summer League squad. Still, it’s tough to trust a team that doesn’t have anyone resembling a go-to scorer. In contrast, the Grizzlies are stocked with proven, NBA-caliber pieces; that will ultimately be the difference on Tuesday.
