In the 10th inning of Friday’s game against the Texas Rangers, Xander Bogaerts injured his hamstring after following through on a swing. Bryce Johnson was the substitute.
Prior to exiting, Bogaerts went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts.
Bogaerts has missed only two games this season and the plate discipline numbers remain fantastic. The walk rate is 10.3% while the strikeout rate is only 16.2%. Unfortunately, the ISO is only .111. He does have 13 stolen bases, though. Bogaerts has been batting fifth or sixth in the order.
If he’s out for an extended period of time, Jose Iglesias or Tyler Wade would likely play shortstop and bat towards the bottom of the order.
