In the top of the fifth inning of Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Twins, Kerry Carpenter roped a pitch into the right field corner. Unfortunately, he injured his hamstring after rounding second and heading to third base.

Prior to exiting, Carpenter went 2-for-3 with a triple and a home run. Wenceel Perez was the substitute.

Carpenter has been dealing with a hamstring issue all season.

On the season, Carpenter is slashing .252/.281/.473 with 15 home runs, 39 runs, 30 RBI and a stolen bases. The strikeout rate is 21.7% while the ISO is .221. He’s primarily been batting first through third in the order. If he’s out for an extended period of time, it would be a big blow to the Tigers offense.

If Carpenter misses an extended period of time, the outfield will likely be manned by Parker Meadows, Riley Greene and Wenceel Perez. The DH would likely be filled by Jahmal Jones.
