Jake Paul vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr is headlining tonight’s boxing card, but Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez is defending his WBA and WBO titles against Yuniel Dorticos in the co-main event. Ramirez is 47-1 with 30 knockouts in his career and is looking for his first successful title defense.
Here is my best bet for Saturday’s Ramirez vs. Dorticos boxing matchup on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Gilberto Ramirez by KO/TKO/DQ (-115)
Ramirez is ranked as the No. 1 Cruiserweight on BoxRec, and if he gets past Dorticos, a potential big fight against IBF Champion Jai Opetaia could be next. Since Ramirez is a massive -1400 favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook, getting him to win via KO/TKO/DQ at -115 seems like the better play.
Ramirez is an all-around elite boxer who has repeatedly shown that he has more ways to win besides getting the knockout. Although his last three victories were by decision, Ramirez won the five before that via KO/TKO. Ramirez is the smaller fighter in this matchup and must be the aggressor with the higher output in order to wear Dorticos down throughout the contest.
This is a mismatch since Dorticos hasn’t been active lately and has been facing worse competition. Ramirez hasn’t had five straight wins by decision since 2017, and this is a perfect spot for the reigning champion to display his dominance.
