In the top of the first inning, Steven Kwan hit a ground ball to shortstop and looked to have tweaked something in the lower body as he reached first base. He remained in the game but was eventually replaced in the sixth inning.
Johnathan Rodriguez pitch hit for Kwan in the sixth inning of Sunday’s game against the Seattle Mariners.
Prior to exiting, Kwan went 0-for-2.
Kwan has missed only three games this season. He’s racked up six home runs, 32 runs, 23 RBI and nine stolen bases in 287 plate appearances while slashing .302/.364/.426. The walk rate of 8% is the same as the strikeout rate.
Kwan is the table setter for the Guardians and Lane Thomas would likely bat leadoff in his absence. Rodriguez would likely play right field with Nolan Jones in left.
