Corey Conners withdraws from the U.S. Open

Prior to his final round tee time at Oakmont Country Club, Corey Conners has withdrawn from the U.S. Open due to a wrist injury, per Sportsnet’s Adam Stanley.

Sitting at +8 before withdrawing and 12 shots off the lead, Conners wasn’t in a position to contend Sunday, but he was coming off a 1-over 72 on Saturday, which was a solid score considering the brutal conditions at Oakmont. Priced at a season-low $7,300 for DFS on DraftKings, Conners was a very popular play for the U.S. Open this week. In the $3 Million Fantasy Golf Millionaire, the 33-year-old was rostered by 21.3% of the field.

Conners is in the midst of a great season, making 14-of-15 cuts with 10 top-25 finishes. The Canadian ranks 24th in SGT2G and hopefully this wrist injury isn’t serious, because Conners is scheduled to tee it up at next week’s Travelers Championship, which is the eighth and final Signature Event of the season. As a Signature Event, the Travelers features a massive $20 million purse, so Conners should give it his best effort to compete at TPC River Highlands. At the par 70 the last two years, Conners has finished T-9 and T-27.
