Golf’s third major tees off at Oakmont Country Club this week as the best golfers in the world compete for the U.S. Open.

U.S. Open: Bryson DeChambeau Props
The U.S. Open is being played at Oakmont Country Club outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The U.S. Open is the third major of the year, with Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler winning the first two majors of the season. Oakmont is a par 70 golf course and ranges 7,431 yards. It is one of the most difficult golf courses in the world, with very high scores winning here in the past. The poa annua greens and brutally thick rough make it a great challenge for the world’s best golfers.
The two best players in the world, the aforementioned Scheffler and McIlroy, will want to add to their major total. However, defending U.S. Open champion Bryson DeChambeau will be tough to beat at Oakmont. It should be a great battle in brutal conditions.
Bryson DeChambeau “Most Birdies or Better” (+1800)
Bryson DeChambeau won the 2024 U.S. Open on the final hole, coming from behind to defeat Rory McIlroy. DeChambeau enters this week as the defending champion and will look to keep his great form in major championships going. Since the start of the 2024 season, DeChambeau has finished T6 or better in five out of six majors. DeChambeau was in the final pairing at The Masters earlier this year, then finished T2 at the PGA Championship. He is proving to be one of the top three players in the world. DeChambeau has the second-best odds to win the U.S. Open, behind only Scheffler, who has been on another level over the past few weeks. There isn’t much value in betting on DeChambeau to win the tournament at +750, which is why I am choosing to take a different approach.
My favorite Bryson DeChambeau prop for the U.S. Open is for him to have the most “birdies or better” in the field. While they are the two favorites to win the tournament, DeChambeau and Scheffler have different styles of play. Scheffler rarely makes mistakes, consistently making pars and then taking advantage of attackable holes to make birdies. DeChambeau, on the other hand, considers every hole an attackable hole. He is always aggressive off the tee, goes for pins as often as possible and can hit the ball further than almost anybody in the world. DeChambeau will likely make a few more mistakes than Scheffler, but will also likely get more eagle opportunities. That makes this bet at +1800 more intriguing than betting on DeChambeau to win the tournament. A few mistakes could cause him to come up short of the red-hot Scottie Scheffler, but DeChambeau could still end the week with more birdies and eagles made.
