Straka ranks second in total strokes gained and he has the tools to win at Oakmont Country Club, which is the host of this week’s U.S. Open. This venue is a par 70 that is home to narrow fairways, thick rough, 168 bunkers and fast greens. To avoid the penalizing rough and disastrous fairway bunkers that are littered around Oakmont, you will need to be an accurate driver. Straka has been one of the best players in that department this season, ranking 11th in driving accuracy.
Another factor that bodes extremely well for Straka at Oakmont is his elite iron play. The veteran ranks third in SG APP this season and when Dustin Johnson won the 2016 U.S. Open at Oakmont, which is the last time this course hosted this major, he led his field in GIR.
