After beating the Athletics 7-4 last night, the Los Angeles Angels look to win their second straight tonight at 9:38 p.m. ET.

Mitch Spence is starting for the Athletics, while Jose Soriano is the Angels’ starting pitcher tonight. Here is my breakdown of the game and my best bet for the contest on DraftKings Sportsbook.

Athletics at Angels prediction, preview

This is the fifth matchup of the season between the A’s and the Angels. Los Angeles is 5-0 against the Athletics this season and is 5-2 in their previous seven games. A big part of the Angels’ recent success is the addition of superstar Mike Trout, who was previously sidelined. Trout is batting .343 with 12 hits, seven RBIs, four runs, and one home run in his first 10 games back.

Although the A’s are 2-2 in their previous four games, they have struggled a ton this season. They are 4-16 in their last 20 games. The Angels have beaten the A’s six straight times and have won seven of the past 10 matchups. Even though they haven’t found much success as a team, they have one of the best young players in baseball this season. A’s shortstop Jacob Wilson is in his first full season in the MLB, but doesn’t look like it. This season, he has the second-best batting average (.366) and the second-most hits (93) in the MLB.

The Athletics have Mitch Spence, who is primarily a reliever, on the mound tonight. Spence has only pitched four-plus innings twice this season. This is his second start of the season, and he is coming off a win with four strikeouts over five innings.

Jose Soriano is 4-5 and coming off a tough performance against the Boston Red Sox. Soriano allowed seven earned runs while giving up eight hits through 3.2 innings. But before that, Soriano won two of his previous three starts.

Athletics at Angels pick, best bet

With the Angels being 5-0 against the A’s this year, it is wise to back LA in tonight’s matchup. But the best value play is to get the Angels -1.5, which is +138 on DraftKings Sportsbook. The Angels have won four of five games this season against the A’s by at least two runs.
