New York Mets at Colorado Rockies prediction, pick for Saturday 6/7/25

This will be the second game of the weekend series at Coors Field between the Mets and Rockies.

Clay Holmes is scheduled to pitch for New York, while Carson Palmquist will take the mound for Colorado.

Mets at Rockies prediction, preview

Clay Holmes is in the midst of a great first year with the Mets. Holmes started four games for the Pirates during his rookie season in 2018. He then spent six straight seasons coming out of the bullpen, not making a single start for the Pirates or Yankees. The Mets acquired him in the offseason with plans to move him into their starting rotation. This move was met with skepticism by many, but the Mets and Holmes have proved the doubters wrong so far. Holmes has a solid 3.07 ERA and the Mets are 9-3 in games that he starts. Holmes should feel great taking on this dreadful Rockies team. Colorado leads the league in strikeouts and ranks dead last in runs scored. Holmes just faced this team in his most recent start, giving up three runs in seven innings when they faced off at Citi Field.

Carson Palmquist is having a tough rookie season just like so many others on the Rockies. Palmquist has an 8.50 ERA in just four career starts. Palmquist has only made it five innings once in those four starts. His most recent start came at Citi Field against the Mets, where he gave up four runs in 4.2 innings. In that game, Palmquist gave up home runs to both Pete Alonso and Francisco Lindor. The Mets swept that series against the Rockies in New York and won the first game of this series on Friday night in Denver. The Rockies’ bullpen does not have the depth to support Palmquist when he only survives four innings. The Mets should be able to tee off on Palmquist and then the Rockies’ bullpen in turn.

Mets at Rockies pick, best bet

It has become nearly impossible to bet on the Rockies. They could end up having the worst season in Major League Baseball history and there is no sign that things could start to get better. They have a dreadful rotation, a below-average bullpen and the worst lineup in baseball. Conversely, the Mets have been one of the best teams in baseball with a great rotation, a better bullpen and one of the most star-studded lineups in the sport. The Mets have been on fire lately, winning 11 of their past 15 games to move them 2.5 games ahead of the Phillies atop the NL East. The Mets are 4-0 against the Rockies this season and should keep that undefeated record going with this lopsided pitching matchup. The Mets should be in for a big offensive game in the high altitude of Denver. That is why I am betting on them to score over 6.5 runs and defeat the Rockies by at least two runs in this game on Saturday night.

Best Bet: Parlay Mets -1.5 and Mets o6.5 Runs (-115)
