King of the Diamond is back again for Friday’s slate! Learn how the contest works, how to get in on it, and track leaders right up until we crown our winner(s).
How to Play King of the Diamond on DraftKings Sportsbook
King of the Diamond requires bettors to use a token on a pre-game parlay that must include a player to hit a home run. Same Game Parlays (SGP), SGPx and parlays are the eligible bet types. Whichever parlay form a bettor chooses must have 2-5 legs.
Any game that starts before 6 p.m. ET on the slated day will not be eligible for the King of the Diamond promotion. There is not an odds minimum. Unless using a boosted token, the bet minimum is $5.
The King (or kings) of the Diamond is decided based on the highest scoring team of the slated night. For example, suppose the Los Angeles Dodgers are the highest scoring team, and Shohei Ohtani hits a home run. In that case, all bettors who entered Ohtani to hit a home run in their eligible parlay and opted in to the contest will share in a $1 million prize pool.
The player only needs to hit one home run to qualify for a share of the prize pool. For example, if another Dodger hit two home runs and the Dodgers are the high scorers of the night, Ohtani still qualifies as the King of the Diamond. If two or more teams tie for the highest scoring team, all batters on those teams who hit home runs would qualify. For more on tiebreaker scenarios and eligible bets, refer to this article.
Update 1:00 a.m. ET
With no other team reaching nine runs, the Yankees are in prime position to remain the highest scoring team on the slate. However, with the Diamondbacks vs. Reds game suspended and scheduled to resume on Saturday, nothing can be official until that game finishes.
As of now, the two teams are tied 3-3 in the top of the seventh. If that score holds, Jazz Chisholm Jr., Anthony Volpe and Paul Goldschmidt will be your Kings of the Diamond for Friday’s slate. Check back Saturday for the final update!
Update 11:53 p.m. ET
Things keep looking better for the Yankees. The New York Mets scored late to secure a 4-2 win over the Colorado Rockies. The St. Louis Cardinals put a bow on a 5-0 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers. And the Los Angeles Angels are leading 5-4 in the bottom of the eighth inning.
There are still two games with long-shot odds. The San Francisco Giants lead the Atlanta Braves 4-2, and while they haven’t hit a home run, a crooked number in the late innings could make things interesting. And the most promising game of all, the Orioles and the Athletics, are in the sixth inning. The A’s lead that contest 5-4. If you have Chisholm/Volpe/Goldschmidt HR tickets, hold tight and hope none of these offenses go crazy.
Update: 11:32 p.m. ET
We’ve only had two more runs on the board since our last update, but it could be important. Orioles shortstop Jackson Holliday ripped a ball to center field against the Athletics, tying the game at four in the fifth inning.
The lead didn’t last for long as the Athletics rallied in the bottom of the fifth for a run to go up 5-4. With plenty of baseball left and two pitching staffs that are hemorrhaging runs recently, this is the best chance on the board to sneak past the Yankees. We also narrowly missed drama in Los Angeles, as the Angels came as close as you can to adding two more runs. Julio Rodriguez had other ideas:

Update: 11:05 p.m. ET
The final scores keep coming, and the New York Yankees look better and better. The Pittsburgh Pirates walked off the Philadelphia Phillies in a 5-4 win. Toronto secured a 6-4 win, holding off a Minnesota comeback. The Padres put a stopper in the Brewers for a 2-0 win. And though they rallied late, the White Sox fell two runs shy of New York in a 7-2 win. That leaves five contests on our board.
The Mets and Rockies are tied 2-2 in the eighth, and it seems unlikely anyone gets eight runs. The Cardinals lead the Dodgers 4-0 in the sixth. But we do have some candidates down the board. The Los Angeles Angels have a 5-4 lead going into the sixth against the Seattle Mariners, courtesy of a two-run home run by Travis d’Arnaud. The Athletics lead the Orioles 4-3 in the fourth inning of what promises to be a high-scoring game. And the Giants, overdue for an offensive breakout, lead the Braves 3-0 in the fourth inning.
Keep an eye on the scoreboard with us as we see if anyone can catch New York.
Update: 10:27 p.m. ET
It was a valiant effort by the Boston Red Sox to get back in the game, but the New York Yankees locked down a 9-6 victory in the Bronx.
That leaves the Yankees as the leaders on our board with home runs by Jazz Chisholm Jr., Anthony Volpe, and Paul Goldschmidt. The mark has been set, and it’s time to see if anyone can catch them. The Toronto Blue Jays have another inning to try as they’re up 6-3 in the eighth. Elsewhere, the Baltimore Orioles are off to a good start against an Athletics team giving up nearly eight runs per game over the past few weeks.

Update: 9:52 p.m. ET
If you’re a baseball, you must be terrified of Rafael Devers. The Red Sox DH did his designated hitting in the seventh inning, ripping this shot to right field:
The Yankees continue to lead in the game and on tonight’s leaderboard, but the Sox keep creeping back. After New York jumped out to a 7-0 lead, Boston has outscored them 6-2 to make this an interesting game.
Elsewhere on tonight’s board, the Toronto Blue Jays are making a late case for tonight’s top scorers. George Springer demolished this baseball to give them five runs on the night:
Our three AL East teams are the top three scorers on the board. We’ll watch this Yankees-Red Sox contest closely and monitor the rest of the board to see who can catch up.
Update: 9:30 p.m. ET
Don’t count out the Boston Red Sox just yet. They got on the board courtesy of rookie shortstop Marcelo Mayer, who cranked his first career home run:
New York added another run via an Aaron Judge RBI single to get the run back in the bottom of the fifth, going up 8-1. But the Red Sox put on a three-run rally in the top of the sixth and cut the lead to 8-4. That momentum was short-lived, as Paul Goldschmidt took momentum back for the Yankees with this oppo taco:
The Phillies and Pirates each have four runs in the fifth inning. Pittsburgh is providing the power in this one, getting an early home run from Bryan Reynolds and this game-tying shot off the bat of Henry Davis:
The Toronto Blue Jays have also joined the four-run club, getting on the board with a blast from Addison Barger:
So, to sum things up, the Yankees continue to lead with nine total runs. They have home runs from Jazz Chisholm Jr., Anthony Volpe, and Paul Goldschmidt. Those three lead our contest with a few innings left for New York to add more. We’ll see if anyone can catch them.
Update: 8:45 p.m. ET
The Yankees are holding strong as the top scorers on our board, continuing to lead the Boston Red Sox 7-0 after the fourth inning. Unfortunately, home run hitter Anthony Volpe was forced to leave the game after being hit by a pitch in the second inning. We’ll see if the Yanks can add any more on the board without their young shortstop.
Elsewhere, the Minnesota Twins are making a case tonight. Trevor Larnach, one of last Friday’s KOTD winners, absolutely launched a ball in the first inning against the Toronto Blue Jays:
The Twins are now up 3-0 in the third inning and could threaten New York’s lead.
Looking at the rest of the scoreboard, the Nationals and Rangers finished a 2-0 affair. The Houston Astros got a home run, but they only have four runs in the seventh inning. Arizona and Cincinnati are tied at three apiece in the bottom of the sixth. Things are looking strong for the Bronx Bombers, Volpe, and Jazz Chisholm Jr., our two leaders.
Update: 8:17 p.m. ET
Jazz Chisholm Jr. is on a tear in this one. He provided his second RBI hit of the game in the second inning of this one with this hard-hit single:
New York piled it on with Anthony Volpe driving in another run, courtesy of a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch. Chisholm and Volpe have driven in all seven runs. It puts the Yankees firmly in the driver’s seat for tonight’s King of the Diamond contest.
Elsewhere, TJ Friedl hit a two-run shot to get the Cincinnati Reds on the board:
That game remains at 3-2 in the fifth inning, so it would take some serious fireworks for either team to get ahead of New York. The Astros also have three runs in the fifth inning, but no home runs.
Update: 7:50 p.m. ET
We’ve got back to back bombs on the board!! The Arizona Diamondbacks are getting busy early in Cincinnati, first with this two-run shot off the bat of Ketel Marte:
It only took one more pitch for the Diamondbacks to add another dinger, as Geraldo Perdomo rocked this ball to left field:
The Diamondbacks are the second team on the board of the 12 teams currently playing, and held an early lead on our scoreboard. That lead lasted for all of a few seconds. Jazz Chisholm Jr., a former Diamondback himself, crushed one to center field in Yankee Stadium after the rain delay ended:
It didn’t take long before Anthony Volpe got in on the party, increasing the Yankees’ lead to 5-0:
The Yankees hold a big early lead on our board as the home runs are coming in fast. Don’t go anywhere!
Update: 7:25 p.m. ET
Four games are underway already! While we wait for later starts and some delays, the 7:00 p.m. slate is well underway. The Washington Nationals are first on the board, courtesy of an RBI groundout by Robert Hassell III.
It’s been slow going otherwise, as no other teams have scored. But that’s bound to change soon. Keep checking with us as the home runs start to pile up.
