Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto has been removed from Wednesday’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays after suffering what appears to be a groin injury.

The a tipped foul ball caught him in a rather unfortunate spot and he exited the game with the training staff. Since the game was in the bottom of the ninth, there’s hope that this is precautionary rather than a sign of significant injury.

Realmuto is hitting .225 this season with 22 RBIs and five home runs for the Phillies. 26-year-old Rafael Marchan is behind him on the depth chart and would likely assume the starting job in Realmuto’s absence.
