Golf Best Bets: Top Finishing Position Props for the RBC Canadian Open

The PGA TOUR heads north of the border this week for the RBC Canadian Open at the North Course (par 70, 7,389 yards, bentgrass/POA mix greens) of TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley in Caledon, Ontario. This is the first time this course has hosted a PGA TOUR event and for this week, there will be 156 golfers competing and a top-65 and ties cut after the first two rounds.

Below, I have featured some finishing position bets to consider for the RBC Canadian Open.

Harry Hall for a top-30 finish (+110)

Hall travels to Canada playing the best golf of his career and is a sensational bet for a top-30 finish at these plus-money odds. After finishing T-19 at the PGA Championship – which is the best major finish of his career – Hall finished T-6 at the Charles Schwab Challenge in his next start. The English professional shot under par in three of his four rounds at Colonial CC and he gained strokes in every major category, except around the greens.

Hall has now finished inside the top-30 in eight of his 16 starts this season and he ranks 15th on the PGA TOUR in total strokes gained. Additionally, the 27-year-old ranks third in par four performance and fourth in SGP this season. As an elite par four scorer, Hall is a great match for the North Course. This venue is a traditional par 70 that is home to 12 par fours and only two par fives and Hall hasn’t finished worse than T-13 in any of his last four starts at a par 70.

Chris Gotterup for a top-30 finish (+140)

Gotterup has been impressive as of late, finishing T-28 or better in five of his last six solo starts. Gotterup has shot under par in eight of his past 12 rounds – including a pair of 65s – and the 25-year-old’s best club this season has without a doubt been his driver. Gotterup ranks 34th on the PGA TOUR in SG OTT and he has gained strokes OTT at five straight events.

Being a great driver will be a distinct advantage at the long North Course this week and Gotterup is a strong wager for a top-30 at this lengthy track. The bomber has teed it up at 11 courses this season that are at least 7,300 yards in length and Gotterup has finished inside the top-30 at six of those venues.
