New York has now won three out of four games this season against the Dodgers. The Mets have also won eight of their past ten games and have the best record in the National League. These two teams could be on a collision course for another NLCS matchup in October, making these games even more exciting. Part of the reason that the Mets have caught fire as of late is that Juan Soto has started to get hot.
Soto’s move to the Mets was the big story of the MLB offseason, but Soto has truly yet to find his groove with the Mets. That makes their start as the best team in the NL even more impressive. If Soto gets up to his MVP level, the sky is the limit for the Mets. After a couple of rough weeks at the plate, Soto has started to hit the ball hard in the past few games. In his past four contests, Soto is batting .385 with two home runs, three RBIs and four runs scored.
Soto should keep it rolling tonight against the Dodgers. That is why my favorite prop for this game is for Soto to record over 1.5 total bases. Soto has achieved this by hitting two singles, hitting home runs and then with a ground-rule double on Monday night.
Legendary Dodgers leftie Clayton Kershaw is on the mound for Los Angeles tonight. Soto has been better against left-handed pitching this season, sporting a 111 tOPS+ against southpaws. Kershaw is still finding his footing this season, making just his fourth start of 2025 after getting offseason surgery. Kershaw was crushed for five runs in his first start of the season. Then, in his second start, he faced the Mets but only made it two innings before the game was rained out. Kershaw then made it five innings, giving up one run against Cleveland, in his third start. Kershaw is getting up there in age and is seemingly still not at 100% health. Soto should be able to attack him and pick up an extra-base hit in this game, pushing him over 1.5 total bases.
