Golf Best Bets: Top Finishing Position Props for the Memorial Tournament

The Memorial Tournament will be played at Muirfield Village Golf Club (par 72, 7,568 yards, bentgrass greens) in Dublin, Ohio, which has been the home this event since it’s inception in 1976. The Memorial is the seventh of eight Signature Events this season, meaning the PGA TOUR’s best players will be competing for a $20 million purse. There are 72 golfers competing this week and, after the first two rounds, the top 50 and ties and any player within 10 shots of the lead will advance through the cut.

Below, I have featured some finishing position bets to consider for the Memorial Tournament.

Hideki Matsuyama for a top 20 finish including ties (+100)

Matsuyama has provided four top 20 finishes in 13 starts this season, most notably with a three-shot win at the Sentry in January, in which he shot a tournament-record 35-under. Including this dominating victory, Matsuyama has finished inside the top 20 in three of his five starts at Signature Events this season. The former Masters champion ranks 13th in total strokes gained and sixth in SG ARG this season, which is very notable with Muirfield Village on the menu this week.

With this Jack Nicklaus design presenting very small putting surfaces, being efficient around the greens is crucial in winning at Muirfield Village, as three of the past five winners at this par 72 have finished the event top three in SG ARG. Speaking of victors at Murifield Village, Matsuyama won at this par 72 in his Memorial debut in 2014, which is just one of his six top 20 finishes in 10 starts at Jack’s place. Matsuyama has a 64 and pair of 65s on his resume at Muirfield Village, and he ranks ninth among this field in strokes gained per round at the venue. Matsuyama deserves to be favorited for a top 20 finish this week and he is an elite bet for this feat at these +100 odds on DraftKings Sportsbook.

Ryan Fox for a top 30 finish (+150)

After claiming the first PGA TOUR win of his career at the Myrtle Beach Classic earlier this month, Fox posted a T28 finish at the PGA Championship in his next start. In the challenging conditions at Quail Hollow Club, Fox shot a four-under 67 in the first round and he gained strokes in every major category for the event, except with his putter. Considering this was just his second attempt at Quail Hollow, this was an impressive performance for Fox and a telling sign that his game is in pristine form.

Following this outing, Fox has carded four top 30 finishes in 10 solo starts this season and he ranks 35th on the PGA TOUR in total strokes gained. Fox finished T30 in his last visit to Muirfield Village in 2023 and the professional out of New Zealand should produce an even better result this week.
