The Liberty got off to a hot start on their title defense, defeating the Aces 92-78 in the season opener. Breanna Stewart posted 25 points and eight rebounds on 10-of-14 shooting from the field.
New York is 1-0 and will look to improve its record with a matchup against the 0-1 Sky. Chicago lost its first game against the Indiana Fever 93-58.
Tonight’s matchup between New York and Chicago isn’t expected to be close. The Liberty are 12-point favorites on the road, and the game total is set at 164 points on DraftKings Sportsbook.

Stewart is one of the best players in the WNBA, and she’s not slowing down in her third year with the Liberty. The 2016 No. 1 overall pick is a two-time MVP and finished third in the voting last season behind A’ja Wilson and Napheesa Collier.
Her abilities were on display against a talented Aces team that features Wilson. While Las Vegas moved on from Kelsey Plum in the offseason, it acquired Jewell Loyd in the deal. The Aces are still one of the better teams in the league, and will be as long as Wilson is playing.
The Liberty winning that matchup by 14 points while Stewart scored 25 points on 10-of-14 shooting was majorly impressive. If that’s what Stewart can do in a tough matchup, her performance against weaker teams should be exciting.
Stewart should dominate against the Sky, who lost their season opener by 35 to the Fever. Of course, there’s opportunity for regression from such a great first game, but it seems more likely that Stewart will continue her scoring prowess.
