Best NHL Player Props for November 4
Tage Thompson 4+ Shots on Goal (+110)
Thompson has put at least four shots on goal in six of his last 10 games, and the underlying numbers suggest his volume won’t drop. Among skaters with at least 100 minutes of ice time, he ranks second in both shots on goal per 60 (13.90) and 5v5 shots per 60 (12.67), and third in 5v5 unblocked shot attempts per 60 (16.42). The 29-year-old leads the Sabres with 63 shots, which ranks third in the league behind only Matt Boldy and Kyle Connor, and he fired eight shots on goal in Saturday’s 3-2 win over the Kings.
Ottawa isn’t the juiciest matchup on paper, sitting in the middle of the pack at 27.2 shots allowed per game (T-14th), but Thompson hasn’t really needed a soft opponent to get his shots on net this season. He has averaged 4.0 shots per game over his past 10 outings, and it’s too enticing to pass up plus money on a shooter this active.
Seth Jones 1+ Assist (-110)
Jones has notched at least one assist in eight of his past 10 games, and his 16 assists are tied for fourth among all defensemen. The 32-year-old has been a staple on Florida’s top power-play unit, where eight of his 11 secondary assists have come, and he has racked up 11 power-play points across his past 10 outings. He also picked up an assist against this same Chicago team in a 3-2 win on Oct. 25.
The Blackhawks have dropped three straight games, and they’ve been especially dreadful defensively, allowing the most 5v5 xGoals against per 60 in the league while controlling a league-worst 40.4% of the 5v5 xGoals. They’re also giving up 30.3 shots per game, the fourth-most. The -110 price isn’t overly enticing, but Jones has been held without an assist just twice over his past 10, and the matchup is very favorable.
Joel Farabee 1+ Point (-125)
Farabee leads the Flames with 15 points, and eight of them have come at 5-on-4. That should be a big deal against a Seattle penalty kill that ranks 30th at 64.1%, and the 26-year-old already torched the Kraken once this season for three points, scoring a goal and adding two power-play assists in Calgary’s 6-2 win on Oct. 30. He has recorded a point in seven of his past 10 outings while skating on the top line alongside Mikael Backlund and Matt Coronato.
The Kraken own the league’s worst 5v5 Corsi% (41.7%) and allow the second-most shots per game (30.8), and Joey Daccord, who will likely draw the start between the pipes, hasn’t offered much help with an .880 SV% and 3.96 GAA. His -3.0 GSAx ranks 58th among 74 goaltenders, while his -0.69% SV% above expected ranks 48th.
