Reese Olson has been very good for the Tigers this season despite walking 3.51 batters per nine innings. The strikeout rate is a healthy 25.4%, the average fastball velocity is 95.1 mph, and the 2.96 ERA is backed by a 2.94 FIP. He’s allowed more than three earned runs only twice and those came in the first three starts of the season. In four of his nine starts, Olson has not allowed an earned run at all.
Unfortunately, Olson was placed on the injured list on Monday due to a right ring finger injury. There’s been no mention of when the injury occurred or the severity of it.
Olson would be eligible to return on Monday, June 2. The Tigers travel to Chicago for a four-game set with the White Sox, so barring any setbacks, Olson will likely return for that series.
