PITCHER
Stud
Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Arizona Diamondbacks ($10,500) — After allowing four earned runs in his last start, Yamamoto was given an extra day of rest. That extra day means that he matches up on Monday with Arizona. The Diamondbacks cannot hit right-handed pitching — .295 wOBA, .131 ISO and 89 wRC+. This doesn’t appear to be the best spot for strikeouts, but Yamamoto could get there simply by going deep into this game. The Diamondbacks are +190 road dogs. They’re not expected to put up much of a fight.
Value
Reese Olson, Detroit Tigers at Kansas City Royals ($6,900) — Yoshinobu Yamamoto has the win bonus locked up. Olson is locked out. In eight starts, he’s winless. His ERA is 2.09 (3.32 xERA) and he has not allowed a home run this season. Forget home runs, he’s not allowing hits — six hits in May (one run in 19 innings). His strikeout numbers are perfectly fine for a value pitcher — 8.6 K/9 dating back to mid-April. The win is out of his control, but the ball isn’t.
INFIELD
Stud
Mookie Betts, Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Arizona Diamondbacks ($6,000) — The Dodgers are big favorites on Monday night (-250). They project to score the most runs (5.2). Betts will likely drive the attack. He is one of the hottest hitters in MLB. Over the last seven days, Betts has a .505 wOBA and .375 ISO.
Adley Rutschman, Baltimore Orioles at St. Louis Cardinals ($5,600) — The catcher received a day off on Sunday. That was the only thing that could slow him down. After a cold start to the season, Rutchman has been raking this week — four home runs and six RBIs. The matchup up isn’t easy with Sonny Gray ($10,000), but sometimes you have to ride the low-owned hot hand in tournaments.
Value
Zach Neto, Los Angeles Angels at Houston Astros ($3,200) — Hot players always provide value. DraftKings can’t adjust a salary too quickly. Neto has a .448 wOBA and .381 ISO over the last seven days. He’s reached base safely in 16 of the last 20 games.
Gavin Lux, Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Arizona Diamondbacks ($3,100) — Stacking against Slade Cecconi ($5,100) and his 5.27 ERA and 1.65 HR/9 requires value. Lux has a hit in seven of his last 10 games. He helps the Dodgers stack by driving in or getting driven in.
OUTFIELD
Stud
Aaron Judge, New York Yankees vs. Seattle Mariners ($6,200) — Giancarlo Stanton ($4,800) and Judge are the two hottest hitters in baseball. That’s not two of the hottest hitters. No, the duo leads the league in wOBA over the last week. Logan Gilbert ($9,300) is a good pitcher, but he does allow power to right-handed batters (1.5 HR/9) and when he pitches outside of his comfortable home pitcher’s park (1.4 HR/9).
Kyle Tucker, Houston Astros vs. Los Angeles Angels ($6,100) — Houston is one of the best teams in MLB vs. left-handed pitching. Reid Detmers ($7,300) is not a good lefty. His ineffectiveness is highlighted by his inability to get left-handed batters out (.350 wOBA vs. LHB). Tucker has reverse splits, too. He leads the Astros with a .437 wOBA and .333 ISO vs. left-handed pitching
Value
Alec Burleson, St. Louis Cardinals vs. Baltimore Orioles ($3,100) — This will likely be the last day that Burleson is discounted. He has a hit in each of his last six starts — 11 hits, two homers and four RBIs. On paper, Dean Kremer ($7,700) isn’t a great matchup. Look closer and you’ll find that he has a 5.43 FIP and .161 BABIP vs. LHB. Regression is coming.
Luke Raley, Seattle Mariners at New York Yankees ($3,100) — In five of the last eight games, Raley has scored 13 DKFP or more. That streak should continue in a trip to New York’s hitter’s park on Monday.
