Friday’s Play-in game looked to be over for Atlanta early on as Miami stormed out to a 33-24 lead after one quarter. But things settled down and the lead did not balloon into blowout territory. Unfortunately, Atlanta could not make progress either, as the second quarter was 29-29, then the third was a draw at 24-24.

Finally, the Hawks soared in the fourth while Miami went cold from the field, allowing Atlanta to take a six-point lead late in the quarter. But then a Tyler Herro ($9,100; 51 FPTS) came along and went on a solo run to put Miami back on top, but he missed a free throw with 11 seconds left in the game to put the Heat up by three.

With 6.1 seconds left in the game and Miami up 106-104, Trae Young ($8,800; 57.25 FPTS) took Andrew Wiggins ($7,600; 41 FPTS) off the dribble and made the game-typing layup with 1.3 seconds left, sending the game to overtime.

In the extra period, Herro made two treys while Davion Mitchell ($5,500) hoisted and converted three deep balls to lead Miami out of the Play-in and into the Playoffs with the 123-114 victory.

Herro finished with 30 points, eight rebounds and seven assists.

Mitchell had 16 points, three rebounds and five assists.

Bam Adebayo ($9,200; 53.25 FPTS) led Miami with 17 points, 11 rebounds, five assists, five blocks and two steals.

Andrew Wiggins ($7,600; 41 FPTS) contributed 20 points, eight rebounds and eight assists while Haywood Highsmith ($3,500; 35.5 FPTS) was huge with 12 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and two steals.

For Atlanta:

Young led the way with 29 points, five rebounds, 11 assists, a block and a steal but he shot 9-of-22 from the field.

Onyeka Okongwu ($7,100; 56 FPTS) was beastly with 28 points, 12 rebounds, an assist, a block and three steals.

Georges Niang ($3,600; 36 FPTS) played 26 minutes off the bench and put up 20 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals.
