The NBA Play-In Tournament has finally arrived!

What better time to celebrate Threesday on DraftKings Sportsbook than the launching point of the NBA postseason?

I’m going to break down my first three pick for each of Tuesday’s two matchups on DraftKings Sportsbook. Without further ado, let’s get into it.

New Orleans Pelicans vs. Los Angeles Lakers

First Three: CJ McCollum (+240)

This was a fairly straightforward pick.

My decision came down to McCollum or the other player pictured above, D’Angelo Russell. Both CJ and DLo take a ton of threes, but the former has been hitting them at an unreal rate over the last few weeks. In McCollum’s last seven games alone, he’s connected on 42 of 80 long range attempts, good for a whopping 52.5%.

When you look at the other options on the board for this matchup, it becomes quite clear that the Pelicans and Lakers don’t have a lot of sharpshooters in their respective starting lineups. Trey Murphy III is the only other guy who’s truly lethal from distance, but he’ll come off the bench with Brandon Ingram healthy.

It’s hard to argue against McCollum’s recent track record here.

Sacramento Kings vs. Golden State Warriors

First Three: Keegan Murray (+370)

I know, I know, how could I NOT pick one of the Splash Bros for this game?

In all honesty, I gave Klay strong consideration, but the value just wasn’t there with Curry at +195. Instead, I’m opting for the player with the third-best odds in this matchup in Murray.

The 23-year-old hasn’t been nearly as efficient from beyond the arc this season compared to his rookie year, but that hasn’t stopped him from firing away at will. Murray’s three-point volume has been massive recently, as the shooter has taken at least 10 triples in six of his last seven games.

The Kings have seen plenty of Golden State over the last two years, including an incredibly exciting first-round playoff matchup last season. I would imagine Mike Brown will want his guys chasing Curry and Thompson off the three-point line to open the contest. Assuming that’s the case, Murray should be put in a decent position to hit an early triple.

Those are my first three picks for each game on Tuesday’s slate! Stay tuned for more picks later this week.
