Ja Morant Injury Update: February 12 vs. Clippers

UPDATE: Morant has now been ruled out vs. the Clippers.

Morant ($8,600) has been listed as questionable for Wednesday’s matchup with the Clippers with a knee injury. With this being the Grizzlies’ second game in two nights and their last game before the All-Star break, giving Morant the night off makes sense for Memphis.

In 32 games this season, Morant is averaging 20.7 points, 7.4 assists and 4.3 rebounds per game. The guard leads Memphis with a 29.9% usage rate this season and if Morant sits, Jaren Jackson Jr. ($8,100) will become the Grizzlies’ clear top option. With Morant off the floor this season, Jackson Jr.’s usage rises 4.3 percentage points to 33.5% and he is scoring 24.5 PPG in the 21 starts he has made without Morant. From a fantasy perspective, Jackson’s production increases to 1.5 FPTS per minute with Morant off the court this season and Jackson Jr. is averaging 41 FPTS per game with Morant inactive (21 games).

Desmond Bane ($7,500) and Scotty Pippen Jr. ($4,000) are also players who would benefit if Morant sat, with the latter likely replacing Morant in the first unit if he was inactive. With Morant out this season, Pippen Jr. is scoring 30.4 FPTS in 25.1 minutes per game (21 games).

The Grizzlies are 14-7 with Morant inactive this season, but on the second night of a back-to-back and on the road in Los Angeles, Memphis is a 5.5-point underdog vs. the Clippers on DraftKings Sportsbook.
