The Knicks are hosting the Timberwolves in New York on Friday night. Here are the best player props to consider for Jalen Brunson on DraftKings Sportsbook with Karl-Anthony Towns questionable.
Best Jalen Brunson Bets on DraftKings Sportsbook
The Knicks are 4.5-point favorites against the Timberwolves, with an o/u of 218 on DraftKings Sportsbook. Here are the latest lines for Jalen Brunson on DraftKings Sportsbook: o/u 26.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 7.5 assists and 2.5 three-pointers.
Jalen Brunson is having a great start to 2025 individually. The Knicks had an amazing month of December as a team, but Brunson took a bit of a backseat at times in terms of his usage rate. Karl-Anthony Towns was the team’s leading scorer in December, and he was an absolute force. He and Brunson turned into the dynamic duo Knicks fans had hoped for, and all the role players stepped up their game as well. Since the turn of the calendar, the Knicks have lost a bit of their rhythm, with a record of 3-5 to start the new year. Part of that sluggish run can be attributed to the injury to Karl-Anthony Towns. Towns has been dealing with a couple of different injuries and has now missed a couple of games this month, including Wednesday night’s overtime win over the 76ers.
When Towns is not on the floor, Brunson can often try to do everything himself. Brunson is an incredible player and nearly took the Knicks to the Eastern Conference Finals last season playing this type of hero ball. However, the team is clearly at its best when Brunson is more of a distributor to Towns and the Knicks’ role players. Brunson has been a great distributor for a lot of this season, ranking 8th in the NBA in assists per game. However, while correlation does not equal causation, the games where Brunson puts up a massive point total are usually not the Knicks’ best performances as a team. Typically, Brunson decides he needs to take a majority of the shots when there isn’t a good flow to the offense. Towns is questionable for this game, and if he doesn’t go, the Knicks could struggle against his former team.
The Timberwolves rank 4th in the NBA in scoring defense, 6th in defensive efficiency and 6th in opponent true shooting percentage. They are a tough team to score against in any scenario, but if Towns doesn’t play, the Knicks’ offense could really struggle. The Knicks blew out the Timberwolves when these two teams played in December. However, in that game, Brunson only scored 14 points in 30 minutes of action. It was Towns and Mikal Bridges who filled up the stat sheet in that game. If Towns plays in this game, he will likely be the main scoring option against his former team. If he doesn’t play, the Timberwolves will be able to focus all of their defensive attention on Brunson, and that should force him to be more of a passer than a scorer. That is why my favorite prop bet for this game if for Brunson to go under 26.5 points.
