The Suns are in an awkward situation. They’re 19-20 with limited trade assets despite needing to retool the roster midseason. There’s a lot of uncertainty in the rotation, but one constant is Devin Booker.
The four-time All-Star has been consistently great all season whether it’s as a facilitator or scorer. He and the Suns have an incredible matchup tonight against the Wizards, who are one of the worst defensive teams in the NBA.

The Suns are currently playing through a stretch of games against some lowly NBA opponents. It’s helped the team somewhat right the ship during a tumultuous season. Booker has benefitted greatly from weaker defenses and will do so again tonight against the Wizards.
Booker has scored 35, 30, 34, 20 and 39 points in his last five games, surpassing the 28.5 point line in four of those outings. The Suns played the Hornets, Hawks and Jazz in those games. While the Hornets are an average defensive team, the Hawks and Jazz are in the bottom five of points allowed per game.
The Wizards fall into that group, too. They allow the most points per game to opposing teams and have the worst defensive efficiency of all NBA teams. Not to mention, the team also plays at the fourth fastest pace in the league.
Fast-paced games with little defense is a recipe to smash overs. Booker has done it four times in the last five games and now gets the “boss” of weak defenses.
One immediate concern when considering these bets is whether the game will just be a blowout. If so, Booker wouldn’t play enough minutes to reach the point total needed. That shouldn’t be the case, however. The Suns aren’t defeating the Hornets, Hawks or Jazz by large margins recently. In fact, Phoenix has lost two of the past five games.
Washington shouldn’t be much different. The Suns aren’t that Western Conference powerhouse they once were despite the raw talent they possess. The Wizards shouldn’t win, but it shouldn’t be a blowout. Booker should play enough minutes to record over 28.5 points.
Everything leans in favor for Booker to hit this over, so it’s tempting to up the odds for him to reach 30+ points, too. That would increase the value to +110. Tread carefully the further up the ladder you go, but tonight seems like a good opportunity to see how much Booker can score.
