The NFL’s regular season is still over three months away, but with the draft and schedule release happening, excitement for the season is growing. This has caused some to miss fantasy football so much that they’ve already started drafting best-ball teams.
This unique fantasy format has you draft a deeper roster, but that is because once you are done drafting, your involvement with your team is done. There is no lineup setting, no waiver wire and no trades. Each week, your best possible lineup is automatically generated, and at the end of the season, you can check back in to see how your team fared. This puts high importance on the draft. And with that in mind, here are our top 39 tight ends for 2024 best ball drafts.
2024 best ball rankings: Top 39 tight ends
It seemed like last year was finally going to be the year that Travis Kelce was going to be de-throned as a top tight end in fantasy football. His streak of consecutive 1,000-yard seasons ended as he finished with 984 yards and only five touchdowns. Still, Kelce finished as the overall TE3 in half-PPR scoring. Kansas City did bring in Marquise Brown and drafted Xavier Worthy to improve its pass-catchers, but Kelce should still command a high target share, keeping him my TE1 for best ball.
Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews missed the end of the regular season after hurting his ankle and leg. He still managed to finish as the overall TE13 in half-PPR scoring. The Ravens didn’t re-sign veteran wideout Odell Beckham Jr. and used a fourth-round pick on rookie Devontez Walker. Baltimore did bring in running back Derrick Henry, but Andrews should still see a very high target share, making him worthy of being the overall TE2 for best ball.
You’ll notice two things that stick out with these rankings. First, T.J. Hockenson is ranked as the TE23. He is coming off a torn ACL from late last season, and it remains to be seen how on track he is to play in Week 1. Also, Darren Waller is ranked last. It’s more of a placeholder, as he hasn’t committed to playing this season and is mulling retirement. Each of these rankings could largely change between now and the beginning of the season, depending on updates we get about their respective statuses.
