The 12-team College Football Playoff is set!
The CFP committee released the final rankings this afternoon following the conclusion of conference championship weekend.
SMU’s loss to Clemson in the ACC Championship game dropped the Mustangs to the No. 11 seed and probably knocked Alabama out of the bracket. SMU had been No. 8 and Clemson was at No. 17 in the December 3 rankings, with Alabama at No. 11 and Miami at No. 12. SMU’s loss guaranteed Clemson a bid (they wound up at No. 12) and SMU took the slot that could have gone to Alabama if the Mustangs had taken care of business in the ACC title game.
Oregon retained the top spot after winning the Big Ten title, with Georgia rising to No. 2 after outlasting Texas in the SEC Championship, with Boise State and Arizona State grabbing the final two first-round byes as a result of winning their respective conference championships.
Oregon and Texas are tied as +350 favorites to win the national title on DraftKings Sportsbook, followed by Georgia at +380, Ohio State at +475 and Penn State at +650
The College Football Playoff begins on December 20 as Indiana travels to South Bend to take on Notre Dame and concludes on January 20 with the CFP National Championship game from Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
