The Boston Celtics will face off with the Memphis Grizzlies tonight and continue to be the gold standard for NBA play. The defending champions and current title favorites look every bit as dangerous as last year with Jayson Tatum leading the charge.
Al Horford will miss tonight’s matchup due to a toe injury while Derrick White is listed as probable due to a foot sprain. For Memphis, Zach Edey remains out, Luke Kennard has been ruled out due to illness, and Desmond Bane is listed as questionable with a toe injury. Marcus Smart told reporters he plans to play but is battling an ankle injury.
The Celtics enter this game as 7.5-point favorites. The Grizzlies are +230 underdogs on the moneyline on DraftKings Sportsbook and the game total is set at 237.5.

Tatum has gotten off to a great start this season and is averaging 28.7 points, 8.7 rebounds and 5.6 assists across the 22 games. Tatum is also attempting a career-high 10.5 three-pointers per game and connecting at a 37.5 percent rate.
While he will make an impact in all areas of this game, my favorite bet is for Tatum to record over 8.5 rebounds tonight.
Tatum is averaging 8.7 rebounds per game and has recorded over 8.5 rebounds in 12 of the 22 games thus far. This also includes recording over 8.5 rebounds in eight of the last 10 games.
Memphis ranks fourth in the NBA in total rebounds but does so in a complete team effort. Santi Aldama is the team’s leading rebounder at 7.6 per game. Jaren Jackson Jr. often struggles on the boards when tasked as the center and is averaging just 5.8 rebounds per game this season. Memphis attempted to combat this by drafting 7-foot-4 center Edey, but the Purdue product remains out with his ankle injury.
From the Celtics’ side of things, Horford is set to miss the game and the team will need to make up for the 5.3 rebounding average. While Kristaps Porzingis will certainly play a role in this, Boston has gotten increasingly comfortable using Tatum as a big man in certain lineups.
Tatum has backed this up with his commitment to rebounding and expect this to continue tonight. Look for the Celtics superstar to record over 8.5 rebounds for the ninth time in the past 11 games.
