After 20 months away from the Octagon, the UFC Heavyweight Champion Jon “Bones” Jones is back! He will defend his title against former champion Stipe Miocic in the Main Event of UFC 309. “Iron” Michael Chandler returns to face former lightweight champion Charles “Do Bronxs” Oliveira in the co-main event.
Below are my two best bets for UFC 309: Jones vs. Miocic.

Michael Chandler Moneyline (+215)
Chandler hasn’t fought in two years and lost his previous fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 281. He is back at Madison Square Garden for his second straight fight, looking for revenge.
Although Charles Oliveira defeated Chandler in their previous fight, he is coming off a loss at UFC 300 to Arman Tsarukyan. Oliveira knocked Chandler out 19 seconds into the second round of their first fight. Before being finished, Chandler dominated Oliveira in the first round. Chandler almost knocked him out in the first round but opted to go for the takedown.
This is as close and competitive a fight as the UFC can make. I was surprised to see Chandler listed as a big +215 underdog on DraftKings Sportsbook. Chandler has all the tools to become a champion in the future. If he can harness his aggressiveness and fight more tactically, he will find success against Oliveira.
Chris Weidman Moneyline (+102)
In March, Weidman won his first fight since 2020. The former champion is looking to win his second fight in a row for the first time since 2015. Weidman had his best performance since returning from a gruesome injury against Bruno Silva. He out-landed Silva 75-30 in significant strikes.
On Saturday, Weidman will fight Eryk Anders on the Prelims. Weidman is a slight underdog at +102, while Anders is -118. This is a good matchup for Weidman. He has a height (6’2″ vs. 6’1″) and reach advantage (78″ vs. 75″) over Anders. If Weidman can get this fight to the ground and use his elite wrestling, it will be a good night for the New York native.
