The 39-year-old sniper has not missed a step in his 20th season in the NHL. Ovechkin has cleared this line in five of the last 10 games, and draws a prime matchup against the Predators tonight, a struggling squad that has allowed the ninth-most shots per game to opposing wingers. He’s been lighting the lamp often, too, scoring five goals in just the last four games, and it should add a little extra motivation to his game tonight.
He has only cleared this line in five of 11 games this season (45%) but has found plenty of success against Nashville and its goaltender Juuse Saros in the past. Ovechkin has totaled at least four shots in nine of the last 10 matchups versus Nashville and has averaged well over 20 shot attempts per-60 so far this season. The Caps have been cookin’ and have averaged 4.85 goals per game at home this season. Ovechkin is 35 goals shy of the all-time goal record held by Wayne Gretzky and the only way to surpass him is by getting the puck on the net as often as possible. This is a great matchup and I expect the veteran sniper to clear this line of 3.5 shots on goal on DraftKings Sportsbook for the third straight game.
