Two of the world’s best teams will face off against each other in CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying on Tuesday evening, as No. 3 Brazil will take on No. 1 Argentina. Both teams are coming off losses in their last qualifying match and will look to get back on the right foot going forward. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday night from Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.

This will be an exciting one with all eyes on both sides to see who ends up with the edge. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait a while before we see a Lionel Messi vs. Neymar matchup as Messi’s former PSG teammate recently tore his ACL and will be sidelined for the foreseeable future. That adds some trouble for the Brazilian side as they’ll be missing Neymar’s presence on the field in a big way.
Brazil dropped a 2-1 result to Colombia on Thursday in Matchday 5 of CONMEBOL qualifying, despite Gabriel Martinelli getting the Brazilians out to an early 1-0 lead in the fourth minute. It took over 70 minutes to strike back, but Liverpool striker Luis Diaz found the back of the net in quick succession in the 75th and 79th minutes to take a 2-1 lead as the Colombians were able to hang on for the win.
Argentina ended up in a similar boat as second-place Uruguay held them scoreless to secure a 2-0 win on Thursday. Ronald Araujo and Darwin Nunez found the back of the net for the Uruguayans as Messi and the gang couldn’t get much of anything going in the final third.
Honestly, I’m backing a draw in this one as both sides are coming off some shaky play. I’d expect some tough defense from both squads while they still search for goals, but I think they’d both also be satisfied with a draw themselves.
