Ja’Marr Chase is leading the NFL in receiving yards this season. However, it has not been an ideal season for the Bengals. They are in must-win territory for basically the rest of the season and it starts with this contest against the Raiders. The Las Vegas passing defense is 15th in the league in EPA/play and 7th in the league in passing yards per game allowed. Their secondary has been pretty solid, but it also helps that nobody has had to be very aggressive against them on offense because the Raiders have trailed in most games.
The Bengals are at home and if they play mistake-free football, they should be able to comfortably win this game. That could lead to a run-heavy game script with Chase Brown and a lack of downfield shots. Tee Higgins is doubtful for this game and if he doesn’t play, it could seem like an advantage for Chase on the surface because he gets more targets. However, it actually allows the Vegas defense to fully focus on Chase without a weapon like Higgins on the field. The Vegas defense should limit explosive plays and keep this game low-scoring. That is why I am betting Chase to go under his receiving yards prop.
