The Jets are the Jets, Mike Tomlin is Mike Tomlin are the takeaways from Sunday Night Football

Aaron Rodgers finally had his man in uniform on Sunday night, as Davante Adams made his Jets debut against the Steelers in primetime. Did it make a difference? In a word … No.

That’s right, another week, another primetime loss for the Jets. And even more pain for Stugotz.

All of this left Dan with a simple question on Monday’s edition of The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz: Who is Rodgers firing today? Stugotz says he’s out of moves. He points out that it was said that Adams was the missing piece. No, Rodgers was supposed to be the missing piece and the Jets are still losing! Stugotz says it is so embarrassing and he is so distraught because he had such big expectations for this team and the guy who is letting him down is the guy he had huge expectations for. Aaron Rodgers is the reason the Jets are losing football games!

Rodgers throwing interceptions is not something Dan is used to, even as he imagines some people are enjoying the sight of Rodgers falling apart under the glare of the primetime spotlight in New York. He need look no further than Jessica Smetana, who was jubilant in the performance of her Steelers after a week in which everyone was questioning Mike Tomlin for making the switch the Russell Wilson after a 4-2 start. Guess what, it worked! The Steelers pass game was unlocked for what felt like the first time in years and Jessica points out that Pittsburgh scored 37 points for the first time since she was at Sports Illustrated! Will it work out in the long run? Who knows, but Jessica is BUZZING today.

Dan is still shocked by the number of people questioning Tomlin. He says if you’re willing to question Tomlin, you’re willing to question anybody. Sure the offense hasn’t been good in Pittsburgh, but Tomlin has still somehow found a way to make it so that the Steelers win games! Tomlin, who Dan points out was “too hip hop” apparently for the Dolphins once upon a time, instead has gone on to essentially become Don Shula in Pittsburgh. Dan thought Tomlin is the one coach we would all give the benefit of the doubt and assume that if he’s making a change at quarterback he’s assessing those QBs at a higher level than the rest of us just looking at wins and losses.

Then again, maybe Dan’s just a little rusty after being off last week. A week in which in his absence EVERYONE DECIDED TO QUESTION MIKE TOMLIN!!!!

Local Hour: The Big Nap

Today’s cast: Dan, Stugotz, Greg Cote, Marginally Edible Bacon, Chris, Billy, Jeremy, and Jessica. There are 1,000,000 things to get to from the sports weekend, but we MUST begin by making fun of Stugotz’s Jets while Jessica gets to celebrate her Steelers. The crew dives through Mike Tomlin’s excellence, Aaron Rodgers picking his nose, and Russell Wilson leading the Steelers offense. Then, an all-time classic WNBA Finals ended with an OT thriller marked by ugly shot making and uglier officiating. Plus, Greg makes the case for horses enjoying being driven on the highway in a trailer, Billy is a wacky-inflatable-arm-flailing-tube-man, and Stu and Greg debate whether it’s actually better to win zero Super Bowls as opposed to one. No, seriously.

The Big Suey: A Classic Boink-Doink Situation

Hey, Dolphins-Colts, Saints-Broncos, Jaguars-Patriots…GET OUT OF OUR LIVES. After another ugly Dolphins loss, the crew begs and prays for Tua Tagovailoa to be healthy and lead the Dolphins out from the darkness. Is this the best Tua Tagovailoa has ever looked? Why was he wearing sunglasses? Can Billy help Jason Sanders move? Has Tim Boyle ever been good at quarterbacking at any level? Do you look down at people who eat poop? Can you grow a sandwich tree?
