In the 2024 NFL Draft, two generational WRs were drafted in the top ten picks. Former Ohio State Buckeye, Marvin Harrison, Jr., went to the Arizona Cardinals at four overall, and the New York Giants selected Malik Nabers from with the sixth pick. Both young players have wasted no time making an impact in the NFL. Nabers has caught 23 passes for 271 yards and three touchdowns. Harrison, Jr. has ten catches, 198 yards, and three touchdowns.
Among WRs, Nabers is first in targets with 37, second in catches, fifth in yards, and tied for most touchdowns. Right now on DraftKings Sportsbook, Nabers is the favorite to win Offensive Rookie of the Year at +220. Harrison Jr. is 15th in the league in receiving yards and is also tied for most touchdowns. Harrison, Jr. is right behind Nabers at +225.
Nabers has scored 68 PPR fantasy points, which is the most for a WR this season. He has scored at least 28 points in each of the past two weeks. Before the season, Nabers had an ADP (Average Draft Position) of 49 overall. Harrison Jr. has scored 47 points which is good for WR11. When the public was drafting their teams, Harrison Jr. had an ADP of No. 16 according to FantasyPros.
Before the season started, Harrison, Jr. was +550 and Nabers was +800 to win Offensive Player of the Year. Harrison, Jr. had his best game as a professional last week against the Los Angeles Rams, where he had 130 yards and two touchdowns. Although he has had the best individual game up until this point, Nabers has been more productive so far.
Verdict
Both the Giants and the Cardinals are 1-2 on the season but have been much better than previously expected before the year. Although Harrison Jr. is the slightly better prospect for the future, Nabers is getting more targets and is a bigger part of the Giants’ offense through three weeks.
With 15 weeks to go, I would lean Nabers to win this award. As of today, he has been targeted five more times than any other WR in the NFL.
