Will Hunter Henry Score a Touchdown on Thursday Night Football?

Weird things happen on Thursday Night Football: a short week with tired players means expect chaos.

To get us started in Week 3, the Patriots are heading to the Meadowlands to take on the Jets. In what should be a physical game between two defensive football teams, finding a touchdown scorer can be tricky. Luckily, there’s more than enough information at our disposal to find some value on DraftKings Sportsbook.

Despite some hiccups this season, the Jets still boast a defense stocked with talent. Given the playmakers New York has at defensive line and defensive back, the best option for the Patriots’ passing game is the middle of the field. That’s where TE Hunter Henry comes into play; after an eight-catch, 109-yard outing vs. the Seahawks, it’s clear that QB Jacoby Brissett has a favorite target.

New York linebacker C.J. Mosley is questionable for Thursday’s contest due to a toe injury. As of Wednesday, it doesn’t look like he’ll suit up.

Should the Jets be without one of their better defenders, Brissett should have an even greater chance at connecting with Henry. According to NFL Next Gen Stats, Henry has gone out wide on just 4% of his snaps this season. In other words, his route tree rests almost entirely inside the hash marks.

New York is favored by six points on DraftKings Sportsbook. If the Pats find themselves trailing in the second half, they’ll be forced to abandon the run game. However, New York’s defense runs a nickel package on 78.1% of passing plays. That’s good news for the Patriots; Brissett has completed 62% of his throws (1 TD, 0 INT) when five defensive backs are on the field.

If New England’s offense proves capable of moving the ball down the field, its pass catchers are currently being undervalued. Given his status as Brissett’s number one target, as well as the Jets’ vulnerability at linebacker, Henry offers a ton of value on Thursday.

The Play: Hunter Henry Anytime TD (+400)
