A.J. Brown did not play in Week 2 after injuring his hamstring during Friday’s practice. During the Monday Night broadcast, Brown revealed to ESPN’s Lisa Salters that he felt tightness in his hamstring after running a route. He expects to miss a few weeks.
It’s a tough blow for the Eagles’ offense, as Brown has been a monster since he’s arrived in Philadelphia. In the first two seasons with the Eagles, he’s received 145 and 158 targets, hauling in 88 and 106 catches for over 1,400 yards in each season. He scored 11 and seven touchdowns. In Week 1, Brown caught five of 10 targets for 119 yards and a touchdown.
With Brown out, DeVonta Smith would top the wide receiver depth chart, while Jahan Dotson and Britain Covey will see elevated snaps and targets. Johnny Wilson could also see some action.
Dotson is 5-foot-11, 182 pounds and runs a 4.43 40-yard dash. He was selected with the 16th overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft by the Washington Commanders but didn’t do much in his first two seasons, totaling 84 receptions for 1,041 yards and 11 touchdowns. He was traded to the Eagles along with a fifth-round pick for a third and two sevens.
Covey is 5-foot-8, 174 pounds and runs a 4.5 40. He went undrafted in the 2022 NFL draft and was signed by the Eagles. In two seasons, he has four receptions for 42 yards, but has returned 62 punts for 725 yards.
Wilson is 6-foot-6, 228 pounds and runs a 4.52 40. He was selected in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL draft. He had some buzz in the offseason due to his size.
The Eagles travel to New Orleans and then to Tampa Bay the next two weeks before getting their bye in Week 5.
