Twins 1B Carlos Santana’s smooth Sunday stops sweep

The Twins lost the first two games of their home series against the Reds, but they bounced back with a big win on Sunday afternoon. They remain 2 1/2 games ahead of the Tigers in the race for the third and final AL Wild Card race, but they have a huge week ahead starting with a four-game set against the NL Central-leading Guardians.

The Reds got out to a 2-0 lead early, but the Twins rallied for nine runs on 12 hits and got contributions from all across their lineup. Veteran Carlos Santana ($3,600; 28 FPTS) had three hits from the third spot in the batting order with a double and his 22nd home run of the season.

While the veteran provided the big blow, Brooks Lee ($2,800; 21 FPTS) was also a great value, going 2-for-5 with a three-run triple and five RBI. Rookie SP David Festa ($8,500; 8.05 FPTS) didn’t last long enough to be the beneficiary of all the late offense after needing 72 pitches to get through 3 2/3 innings.

Festa was opposed by Reds’ rookie SP Rhett Lowder ($7,500; 11.8 FPTS), who had five strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings but took the loss. The only Cincinnati hitters to reach double-digit DKFP were Spencer Steer ($4,900; 14 FPTS) and Tyler Stephenson ($3,900; 10 FPTS).
