The Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks have gone just 4-4 in their first eight games this season, but they have been dealing with some significant absences. In Week 8’s Monday Night Football loss to the Bears, they got two key pieces back in the backfield, welcoming back both Zach Charbonnet and Jadarian Price. Both are just recovering from injuries, but both bring good fantasy upside as key contributors in a productive offense.
Let’s spotlight the Seahawks’ two running backs and take a look at how the timeshare could shake out ahead of a tasty Week 9 matchup against Arizona.
Zach Charbonnet fantasy football outlook
Charbonnet suffered a torn ACL during the Seahawks’ Divisional Round playoff win over the 49ers in January of 2026. He started the year on the PUP list, but he was able to make his return on Monday Night Football in Week 8. He officially got the start and played 23 snaps (37%). On those 23 snaps, he took his six carries for 23 rushing yards and added three catches for six yards.
Before Week 8, Charbonnet did not have any injury designation, but it will be critical to see how he responds after his first game action in over nine months. Even though his numbers weren’t jaw-dropping, the best news is that he came out of the game healthy.
After Kenneth Walker III departed as a free agent, Charbonnet was expected to be the primary running back after sharing time with Walker last year in the team’s successful season. He still could grow into that role as the season goes on, but his workload will likely still be limited as he ramps back up. His value in the short term is touchdown-dependent until he gets back to full speed and can carry a more significant workload.
Jadarian Price fantasy football outlook
To give the team additional options in the backfield after Walker’s departure, the Seahawks drafted Price in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft out of Notre Dame. The rookie impressed in training camp and had 10+ carries in the first two games of the season before landing on IR with a chest injury that he initially sustained in Week 2 and aggravated in practice.
After missing the minimum of four games on IR, Price returned in Week 8 and led the backfield with 30 snaps (48%) on Monday night. He also had the most carries on the team with 10 carries for 29 yards and added two catches for eight more yards. Price has looked explosive and had some big gains, but he has yet to get his first NFL touchdown.
He looks like the more explosive option at this point, but both running backs have potential.
The Bottom Line: Start Jadarian Price and Zach Charbonnet as FLEX plays vs. the Cardinals
Of the two backs, Price has a higher ceiling since he seems to have more burst and explosion right now. However, Charbonnet is trusted and reliable, so he could get more goal-line chances. I’d prefer Price over Charbonnet for the rest of the season, even though it does come with more risk. The Cardinals rank as a neutral matchup for RBs this season, and the uncertain timeshare makes both of these options high-risk in Week 9, but with enough upside to still start in most standard-sized formats depending on other options.
In DFS fantasy football contests like DraftKings’ NFL $2.5M Fantasy Football Millionaire [$1M to 1st], Charbonnet has a salary of $5,800, while Price has a salary of $5,300. If either gets into the end zone, they could be a solid play at this salary, but I still prefer Price’s ceiling, especially at a lower salary.
