Texas vs. Michigan Recap
Texas was a 6.5-point favorite on the road against Michigan in this matchup. Quinn Ewers and the Texas hit the ground running. They took an early 7-0 lead and never looked back, leading Michigan wire-to-wire. The Longhorns had the game wrapped up by halftime where they had a 24-3 lead. They went on the win to win the game 31-12 with Michigan scoring a garbage-time touchdown in the final minutes.
The new-look Michigan offense really struggled to move the ball against the Texas defense. Michigan QB Davis Warren had two interceptions in the game at costly times for the Wolverines. Surprisingly, Michigan only ran for 80 yards as a team. That rush offense was supposed to be the strong suit of this Michigan team but they had no luck against Texas.
Texas QB Quinn Ewers had a nearly flawless day, going 24-36 for 246 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions. Texas needed Ewers to play mistake-free football with the way Michigan’s offense was struggling to move the ball. Ewers moved the ball efficiently through the air to ensure that Texas kept control of the game.
Prior to this game, Texas was +750 to win the national championship at DraftKings Sportsbook. The Longhorns are now +500 after their big win. Quinn Ewers also moved from +1400 to +1000 to win the Heisman Trophy at DraftKings Sportsbook after his great performance in this game.
Texas still plays two more non-conference games where they will be large favorites before they get into SEC play. Michigan plays Arkansas State next week and they need to figure things out in a hurry because the following week they will take on USC.
