The Atlanta Braves enter Monday with the best record in the National League and look to improve it even more when they go to Seattle to face the Seattle Mariners.

Max Fried gets the start on the mound for the Braves, who has led the team to victory in all five of his starts thus far in 2024, but has not looked sharp in doing so with a 4.97 ERA while registering 6.4 strikeouts to 3.2 walks per nine innings.
A big reason Atlanta has yet to lose any of Fried’s starts is how exceptional the lineup has been in providing run support, as the team is second in the National League in home runs per game and their 6.45 runs per game on the road is more than a half run higher than the next highest offense in the league.
The Mariners send Bryce Miller to try to keep the Braves in check, who enters Monday with a 2.22 ERA but the 4.57 fielding independent is a warning sign that regression might be lurking.
Miller is allowing 1.6 home runs and 3.5 walks per nine innings, but does have the benefit of being backed up by a bullpen that entered the weekend with a league-best 2.44 ERA.
Though the Mariners entered Sunday 24th in the league in scoring with just under 3.8 runs per game, the team entered the week heating up at the plate with at least four runs scored in 12 of their past 20 games and ranked 12th in home runs.
With the Braves leading the league in scoring coupled with Fried’s shaky start to the season, Monday’s series opener will feature plenty of offense.
